If you’re scrambling to meet Delta SkyMiles 2024 status, need some MQD or MQM, and/or a reason to spend a long weekend (this upcoming one) in Italy, you might be in luck.
We found an itinerary that leaves Las Vegas (LAS) this Thursday morning, December 7, and arrives in Rome (FCO) on Friday. You depart and return to Vegas on Sunday, December 10. You have Friday afternoon and evening, as well as all day Saturday to enjoy the Eternal City.
The trip flies LAS-New York (JFK)-FCO there and FCO-JFK-LAS on the way back.
This a Premium Economy booking — but with a couple of twists.
First, the entire trip is operated by Delta Air Lines. But you book it through KLM and earn way more MQD and a few more MQM when you credit it to your SkyMiles number (as opposed to booking it through Delta).
The trip is estimated to travel 13,018 miles. Because KLM “A” fare class tickets earn 30% of the distance flown (for now), that means you should earn:
- $3,905 MQD
- 19,528 MQM
- 19,528 Redeemable SkyMiles (before any applicable Medallion bonuses)
The trip currently costs $1510.90. That’s an MQD return of almost 2.59X your cost. That’s pretty good for this time of year.
Here’s something to keep in mind: the flights between Vegas and JFK are in Economy (likely Comfort+) on an Airbus A321neo.
If you were targeted for the Chase Offer awarding a $50 statement credit with a $500 travel purchase and want to use that, I couldn’t find the same itinerary. Here’s the best I could do for the closest price:
In this instance, you’re not really saving that much.
“I can’t go to Rome this weekend!”
I feel ya — neither can I.
