This is American Express Member Week — and the bank issued several limited-time Amex Offers that offer statement credit for various promotions. Here are four we think are fairly interesting for our readers.
Delta
This one makes me laugh.
Delta SkyMiles® American Express Card members received emails with the subject line “(Cardholder’s name), Your Loyalty Deserves To Be Recognized .”
The offer awards cardholders a $100 Delta Credit if they book a roundtrip Delta flight originating in the United States to an international destination. However:
- You must enroll in the promotion prior to purchasing. You can do that here.
- You must purchase a Main Cabin or higher fare
- The fare must cost $500 or more
- The flight must be booked before 11:59 P.M. EDT on Friday, October 13, 2023
- Travel must be completed on or before March 24, 2024
- There are blackout dates: December 15, 2023 – January 10, 2024
If you’re getting the idea that you’ll book an international trip this week and then cancel it — and then use your original fare toward an eCredit and still retain your $100 bonus credit, you might want to think again.
“If the ticket purchased to satisfy the promotion requirement is changed or cancelled after eCredit fulfillment,” Delta says in the terms and conditions, “Delta reserves the right to remove the eCredit from your SkyMiles account.”
Is this a good deal? If you need to book an international trip on Delta within the parameters, sure.
But, at least your loyalty is being recognized, right? (That’s what stood out to us.)

Hilton
This can help you save some decent money on an upcoming Hilton stay.
Cardholders who enroll on the Amex website or app can earn a one-time $80 statement credit by using their enrolled card to spend a minimum of $200 across one or more purchases on room rate and room charges during stays at select Hilton brands in the U.S. and U.S. territories:
- Curio Collection by Hilton
- Canopy by Hilton
- Tapestry Collection by Hilton
- Motto by Hilton
- Tempo by Hilton
Enrollment is required and must be completed by Friday, October 13, 2023. Stays must be completed between now and December 31, 2023. Terms apply.
Hertz
Need a rental car?
Cardholders who enroll on the Amex website or app can earn a one-time $60 statement credit by using their enrolled card to make a single purchase of at least $200 or more. The rental must be paid directly with Hertz by November 8, 2023. Enrollment is required and must be completed by Friday, October 13, 2023. Terms apply. It seems this one is targeted only to business Amex cards.
Dell
Finally, there’s this gem that could really be great for some Amex Business Platinum card holders.
Cardholders can earn a one-time $50 statement credit after using their enrolled card to spend a minimum of $100 in one or more purchases online at dell.com by October 18, 2023. (Enrollment is required and must be completed by Friday, October 13, 2023. Terms apply.)
Here’s where this gets juicy: it should stack with the Business Platinum card’s Dell $200 statement credit feature.
Final Approach
It’s Member Week for Amex cardholders. Check your cards for some deals that might save you some money. But act quickly because the enrollment days expire this Friday, the lucky 13th.

As gaming the system has become its own cottage industry, travel providers can only defend themselves by putting more hurdles in their terms and conditions.
$100 is peanuts Delta after your recent decisions! Bye, bye.
Before Delta’s kick in the teeth last month, my wife and I would have jumped on the Delta offer for a fun winter mileage run to the Caribbean or Central America. When we saw the offer, and all the restrictions, we looked at each other and said, “F*** Delta”.
I was not impressed and deleted the ‘disloyal’ offer.
It seems Delta is on a marketing blitz right now, possibly to distract from its loyalty program changes or possibly to attract new customers. In addition to its email here, Delta had a huge sweepstakes going this week with T-mobile’s Tuesdays weekly advertisements. In total, over $300,000 worth of Delta credit was being raffled and they touted amounts ranging up to $25,000 for winners.
On the topic of Delta’s email offer as described in this post, I couldn’t be less impressed. I don’t care for offers that seek to lock me into spending more in the future. If Delta was serious, they’d actually partner with AmEx to run this as a statement credit. I get the feeling that this promotion is unofficial AmEx member week, though, seeing as AmEx is not required for the payment method and I haven’t seen AmEx promote this offer themselves.
