A man threw his wife under the bus after being caught with a loaded gun inside a carry-on bag at Washington’s Reagan National Airport (DCA).
According to the TSA, a traveler from King George, Virginia, was cited by cops when the TSA discovered a loaded .22 caliber pistol in one of his bags.
Mr. King George pulled a “I didn’t put it there!” — then proceeded to say his wife was the culprit.
“Police confiscated the gun and cited the man on state charges,” a TSA press release says. “The man blamed his wife and told officials that she packed his carry-on bag and did not know that he already had his loaded gun inside.”
(Maybe they should travel with this couple who seem to enjoy selling out each other. What a whacky YouTube series that would be!)
The TSA notes carrying weapons can be penalized by fines up to $15,000. (Hey, if he pays that with a Delta Reserve Amex next year, he’d be 25% of the way to Silver Status in 2025!) Plus, getting caught with a gun at a security checkpoint is grounds for automatic dismissal from TSA PreCheck.
That alone isn’t worth the penalty! :;-)
The situation reminded me of this Geico ad that starts out as a comedy of errors and culminates with a husband narcing his wife out for carrying a bottle of hairspray that’s “over the limit.” (He’s also rightfully chided for not wearing socks. Seriously. Who are these men wearing shoes but not socks? Ew.)
I’d love to hear the backstory on this one.
Oh, honey, I thought this would be a special trip where one of us could use your gun!
Baby, you told me the urologist said you “don’t shoot blanks” and that it’s “up to me if we want to have kids”! That’s why I brought your loaded pistol!
The secret Lifetime movie lover in me wants to believe something sinister was at hand.
Or did he just leave his loaded gun sitting around in a carry-on and forget about it?
So many questions…

This is one of the best possible excuses among bad excuses.
Consider other possibilities:
1. “I put the gun there. I intended to bring the plane down.” – Possible penalty: decades in a federal prison.
2. “I put it there mistakenly”
Even if the judge believes him, his wife is not going to prison. She mistakenly packed the wrong bag. She didn’t bring the gun past the checkpoint.
