Well, we’re getting down to the last months of MQM runs before Delta sunsets those metrics. Even though status can only be earned through MQD starting with the 2025 Medallion year, some people still need MQM this year to hit a status tier for 2024 and/or toward their Million Miler balances.
So, we came across this Orlando (MCO) to Honolulu (HNL) mileage run. Except it takes the long way there. 🙂 I specifically looked for something where our friends from Atlanta could maybe make a short positioning trip to/from ATL.
The trip flies Orlando – New York-JFK – HNL and back.
The cost is $652.01 and earns $11,854 MQM. That’s about 5.5 cents per MQM. It is a Main Cabin run. But we’re kind of at the point in the year when beggars can’t be choosers — especially when Delta is, y’know, eliminating MQM.
However, the flights to and from Honolulu are aboard 767s outfitted with Delta One. So, if you have any Upgrade Certificates you need to burn, this could present a good opportunity.
Here’s the itinerary.
Each airport has a Sky Club.
Play around with the dates and see if you can find something that works for you!

Congratulations. With the 20:1 MQM-to-MQD conversion you just earned 593 MQD’s towards 2025 status. Only 34,407 to go until hitting Diamond!
That’s the attitude!
That distance in domestic main… ouch
Is this really the end of the mileage run? Wont there be a benefit for cheap flights on partner airlines that do the funny math to convert to MQMs?
I have Plat for 2024 and a bunch of rollover to see what my mqms to mqd conversion will be. For this year I’m flying to France and then to Singapore. The Paris flights are delta miles purchased and the Paris to Singapore is on Vietnam Air. Both sets of flights are in premium economy.
Next February I’m off to Israel and in May to LA. So we shall see.
Last time delta played this game and started giving 50% mqm for coach seats I spent 3 years on United.
