I hear lots of stories of people trying to “sneak” alcohol onto a cruise ship. Not only is this against the rules but risks you not being able to take the amazing vacation you were planning to take (after maybe flying to the port and staying overnight before the cruise). Clearly the smarter idea is to pay for a drink package if you want to enjoy some drinks onboard and not worry about it.
But then there are things you should never EVER bring onboard, like cocaine. It seems per the US Southern District Court of Florida sisters Takeia Herder and Scneeka Parker decided to take a Caribbean cruise on the MSC Seascape out of Miami.
It seems, again per the complaint, that during the stop in Jamaica they used WhatsApp to contact someone and low and behold some secret compartments in their backpacks were suddenly both filled with about 5 pounds of cocaine each.
Video evidence did show the two departing the ship with the backpacks and returning onboard with them.
When they arrived back at the port of Miami the feds came onboard and visited their cabin (never a good thing – right)! Low and behold the drug dog they brought with them alerted the officers to possible drugs.
The two sisters were escorted off the ship and with secondary screening the drugs were found in the backpacks. They claimed they did not know the drugs were in the backpacks but they did notice they were a bit heavier than they remembered (yeah right)!
The compliant mentions the drugs could be worth as much as $40,000 and with that much they are going to be looking at some very serious time behind bars and their new cells may be even smaller that their interior cruise cabin they sailed on! – René
