Back in March just about everyone, including a fellow BoardingArea blogger, posted about what sounds like an amazing offer for unlimited cruises for the year for “just” $899! Well that sounds great but there are so many strings attached to the offer that getting real value out of it would be very difficult even for the most flexible Frequent Floaters.
Another big negative about this Margaritaville At Sea Paradise ship is it’s age. It was built way back in 1991 and first sailed at the Costa Classica. That is many years older than the Carnival Imagination that I sailed on as my first ever Carnival ship and that ship was scrapped during the pandemic.
So what is it like to sail on this unique ship. Maybe not so great. A Tiktoker has wracked up almost 9 million views with a short 1 minute clip of what it is like onboard and users are comparing it to the Spirit Airlines of the seas. Take a look:.
@travelspree Would you go on this cruise? fyp foryoupage margaritaville margaritavilleatsea margaritavillecruise cruise cruiseship cruisetok cruiselife cruiser
Yikes right!
And it would seem that the owners of the ship agree because Cruise Industry News now tells us that:
“Margaritaville at Sea has announced a multimillion-dollar upgrade and additions to the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise which will drydock soon. Upgrades include reimagined food and drink options, two new stage shows, onshore adventures in the Bahamas and more.“
Delta Air Lines is famous for taking very old jets and putting in brand new interiors and making them look like a brand new plane. What kind of upgrades will Paradise get? Again from CIN:
“Pickleball, Dueling Piano Bar, Two new theater shows, A new food venue, a fitness center, Jolly Mon Kid’s Club, Hemisphere Nightclub, Fins Dining and updated cabins.“
It will be most interesting to see if any of the above is more than lipstick on a pig or if they really transform this old hull into something any of us would want to sail on.
What do you think? Would you go for a a cruise on the Margaritaville At Sea Paradise? – René

More information would have been helpful. When is the drydock to occur and how long will it take to refurbish the ship? Will the company offer the same options (cruise for a year) after refurbishment? What kind of sailings will be offered after the sprucing up?
Looks pretty bad!!! I guess it was a LOW-Budget cruise,,
