I sat in First Class for the inaugural flight of Delta Air Lines’ new A321neo aircraft. Breakfast was served during the trip — and gave me a chance to try Delta’s blueberry pancakes!

Pre-Ordering Breakfast

Exactly one week prior to departure (almost to the minute!), an email from Delta invited me to select my breakfast choice. Here were my options:

First Class breakfast options for the Delta Air Lines A321neo inaugural flight.

I could take my sweet time deciding: Delta gave me up until 24 hours prior to departure to submit my order.

But the Blueberry Pancakes jumped out at me. I selected that for breakfast and looked forward to the trip! (But f I changed my mind and wanted to select something else, I could do so up until T-24 hours to departure.)

Delta’s Blueberry Pancakes

The verdict on Delta’s Blueberry Pancakes?

Very, very good!

They’re not IHOP quality — but not too far off. The pancakes were fairly moist and the compote wasn’t too sweet. There were three pancakes — and that was perfect.

I’m not a huge breakfast sausage fan. But this link was decent.

I also enjoyed the yogurt with berries and granola. That was a tasty complement.

Finally, we have the fruit dish. I’m not a huge fan of canteloupe or melon, so I skipped those. The grape was good, the strawberry was fine — and the pineapple was fantastic. David (the gentleman sitting next to me) and I both remarked how especially good the pineapple tasted. But that doesn’t really surprise me. After all, the tastiest strawberry I ever ate was onboard a Delta flight. (Side note: I wish Delta would bring back the cheese plate, protein box, and other Flight Fuel products they apparently retired. The Market and Bistro boxes just ain’t cutting it for me.)

Also served (but shown in the above featured image) was a croissant. That was fine but nothing special.

The entire breakfast filled me up. I wasn’t hungry again until spending some time at the San Francisco Sky Club.

My Neighbor’s Meal

David ordered the Free Range Egg Tortilla. It’s basically a frittata – but prepared “Spanish style.” Therefore, it’s an egg tortilla. (Jacob, our fun lead flight attendant, explained this to a truly rapt audience in rows 3 and 4.)

He said it was very good.

Final Approach

Something very much worth noting: our breakfasts were served piping hot. That’s good, of course — just be careful to not burn your mouth. 🙂

I enjoyed Delta’s blueberry pancakes. The meal was very tasty and filling. I’d order it again.

Have you had the blueberry pancakes and/or other items on that breakfast menu? What do you think? Please tell us in the below Comments section!

Question answered: when would preselecting the meal return as an option? Yippee!
