Looks like some Russian planes may have to take the long way to their destinations.
The Wall Street Journal reports United States President Joe Biden is expected to announce that US airspace will be closed to Russian-owned and -operated aircraft.
Mr. Biden is expected to make the announcement tonight during his State of the Union address. (Subscription required to see the article. Or for those of you with Apple News+, here’s a link.) CNN also confirmed the information.
The United States (finally) joins several other countries that’ve banned Russian planes from their respective airspaces. The move is, of course, to put pressure on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. Delta Air Lines suspended its codeshare agreement with Aeroflot, the airline whose majority stakeholder is the Russian Federation.
