If you’re like me, you have several electronic devices — and a few require different USB inputs. (Perhaps you have a bag with so many USB cords that it looks like a darn worm farm. That’s me, too! 🙂 )
It’s 60 watts (which is plenty for tablets, phones, and many laptops) and features high-speed data transfers and fast charging.
The unit’s “base” charging ends are USB-C. From there, you can fasten the USB-A tip on one end and the Lightning connection to the other, if needed. Or go USB-A to USB-C.
I use USB-C whenever possible. But so many USB ports in airplanes, airport lounges, and hotels still feature “standard” USB-A. I love that this cable gives me the option of bringing one cord instead of two. (I know I don’t need to carry two. But that’s just my style 🙂 )
The cable comes in a few different length options:
- Six (6) feet
- Three (3) feet
- One four-foot cable and one six-foot cable (the most bang for your buck)
I had one charging cable that looked like a four-headed monster: it had a USB connection on one end and several different “extensions” dangling from the other. It looked bad cosmetically. More importantly, it took up more space than the Volkano USB cable.
I mentioned this cable delivers up to 60W of power. My 16″ MacBook Pro uses a 100W USB-C cable. (For travel, I bring this 100W, 10ft USB-C cable and it works great.) But I used the 60W Volkano USB cable the other day — and it charged my MacBook Pro just fine. The re-juicing took longer with a 60W cable and USB-A connection. But I wasn’t in any particular rush.
I use it to charge my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 11.
I know there are similar USB cables available. But the Volkano USB cable works great for my needs and is one I personally use. If you need a versatile USB cord for your travels, I highly recommend it.
