Walmart+ Subscription Credit
Platinum Card holders can charge $12.95 plus tax for Walmart+ membership and receive the entire amount back in statement credits.
Walmart+ is sort of like Walmart’s answer to Amazon Prime. (Though I wonder if Walmart+ will start to produce its own TV shows and movies like Amazon does. I’m guessing no.)
An announcement says, “Walmart+ members receive unlimited free shipping with no order minimum on items shipped by Walmart.com, free delivery from stores, as well as mobile and contactless check-out to make shopping faster.”
Remember to start your Walmart purchases at a cashback portal such as Rakuten or TopCashback. I don’t see any language excluding Walmart+ orders from earning cashback.)
I’ll sign up for Walmart+. Not that I shop often through Walmart. But the monthly purchase should earn American Express® Membership Rewards® points — and the subscription costs still get fully credited back. So it’s like 13-ish free Membership Rewards points. And I’m sure there will come a time when I actually need something from Walmart+.
I find this addition rather interesting. The Platinum Card offers statement credits at Saks Fifth Avenue, grants access to its exclusive Centurion Lounges in airports, and now gives cardholders up to $200 in annual statement credit for Fine Hotels & Resorts purchases of stays lasting at least two nights. (Enrollment is required for the Saks Fifth Avenue benefit.) Teaming up with a store many equate with, well, an interesting reputation isn’t a move I expected. But, hey, you don’t know until you try.
Perhaps Amex is aiming to broaden the Platinum Card’s appeal?

Soul Cycle Bike Purchase Credit
Platinum Card Members will receive a $300 statement credit each time they purchase a SoulCycle At-Home Bike. My research shows that the bikes sell for $2,500. But, hey, the $300 credit can be used up to 15 times per calendar year. Better get started buying those bikes now! 🙂
An Equinox+ membership is required to purchase SoulCycle’s At-Home Bike and access SoulCycle content. The bike’s full price must be purchased in one transaction. Keep in mind the Platinum Card already offers a $25/month Equinox+ statement credit. So that’s nice, I guess.
I don’t think I’ll take advantage of this one…
Final Approach
The Platinum Card® from American Express members now receive statement credits for Walmart+ subscriptions and SoulCycle At-Home Bike purchases. I’ll kick the tires on the Walmart+ subscription and earn some points. The Soul Cycle At-Home bike statement credit certainly is a good deal — for people looking to purchase a Soul Cycle At-Home bike…

I discovered Walmart.com during the pandemic. They often have a better price than Amazon for the same item(s). Other times they are more expensive. The minimum spend for free delivery was sometimes the deal-breaker, so thank you Amex Platinum for this new nice statement credit. It will be very useful.
BTW, I never shopped at Walmart prior to the pandemic. But their online store became very useful to me during the pandemic.
Good to know! Thanks, Don!
