If you live in the Los Angeles area — or can get there — you might be interested in this fantastic Delta mileage run we found from LAX to New York’s JFK airport.
The trip costs $186.80 and yields 7,426 MQM (thanks to Delta’s Status Accelerator promotion they’re running this year). That comes out to about 2.5 cents per MQM! It’s a Main Cabin trip on 767s. But one of the hops is currently scheduled on a 767-400. Those aircraft feature Delta’s Premium Select seats — which are marketed as Comfort+. So that’s an excellent free upgrade for Delta Medallion members.
Here’s a sample itinerary:
The above itinerary has a six-ish hour layover. So hopefully you have an American Express card that gives you access to Delta Sky Clubs. That said, you can try to change to a same-day confirmed seat on an earlier flight home if you’d like. Or maybe take a quick train trip into the city to grab a slice at Joe’s or enjoy a bagel at Ess-a-Bagel. 🙂
That said, there are a ton of dates and different itineraries available through the rest of this year, so mix and match your dates.

Hi Chris does it work in the reversed direction please .?
Thanks
I didn’t check. But you could plug in the cities on Delta.com or the Delta app and play around with the dates.
It did work in reverse but unfortunately the fares are gone now showing $282 RT same day JFK>LAX>JFK
Maybe departing one day and arriving late at LAX — then taking a post-midnight flight may work?
