How about this: you can see the New York-New York Casino in Las Vegas — and then head to the actual New York, New York during this Delta mileage run!
This Main Cabin run we found hauls in 9,394 MQM (and $309 MQD) for just $266.40. (That’s about 2.8 CPMQM!) It appears to be available during a few fall dates. But our example trip departs on September 9 and returns the following day. The out-of-the-way, backtracking stops are the keys to this run. It travels LAS-Seattle-JFK-Los Angeles (LAX)-LAS. The longer hauls are currently scheduled on 767-400s. So if you have Delta Medallion status, there’s a (small) chance you’ll score and upgrade to the Delta One lieflat seats!
Delta is rolling over all MQM into 2022. So this is a great opportunity to stock up on MQM at a great price.
I also like that there’s plenty of time for out-of-towners to position into LAS. Depending on where they live, they might be able to get a redeye back home Friday night. Or maybe they can use a free night or points from a hotel credit card or other travel awards card to pay for Friday night’s stay.

There’s a 9-ish hour layover in New York. So you have plenty of time to take a ride into the city and grab a slice at Joe’s Pizza in the Village (my favorite pizza stop in Manhattan 🙂 ). Or you can participate in some quality airport lounge appreciation time. JFK has a Delta Sky Club and American Express Centurion Lounge.

On a “layover” I think you can get into the AMX location, even if it’s more than 3 hours.
