Need some Delta MQM? Check out this Delta first class elite mileage run with two flights in Delta One from Las Vegas (LAS) to San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU).
We found one available departure date: Friday, September 11. The trip flies LAS-JFK-SJU-JFK-LAS. The flights between Vegas and JFK are aboard 767-400s, which are outfitted with Delta One Suites. And those flights are marketed as Delta One — so you should receive some special service, as well. (Though who knows what meal service will look like at that point…) Don’t forget you can take advantage of the Delta Sky Club at JFK!
You downgauge to a 757 for the flights between SJU and JFK. It’ll be hard, I know, but you can do it 🙂 .
The trip currently prices out at $967.80. Delta says it’ll earn 20,226 MQM and $1,586 MQD. That breaks down to about 4.8 CPMQM — which is pretty great for a trip involving two legs in lieflat beds.
The first flight isn’t until 10:30 PM on Friday night. That gives you plenty of time for a positioning trip to Vegas if you don’t live in Sin City.
You return to LAS on Saturday at 10:54 PM. Depending on where you’re from, you might be able to catch a redeye back home that same night. Or just spend the evening in Vegas and enjoy the NFL’s kickoff weekend inside one of the casinos!

Meal service JFK->SEA in D1 last week was normal other than all courses being served at once, so I would think it would be at least as normal for the flight in here unless things get really bad again quite quickly.
Thanks for the data point, Jessie!
Another useful data point: They served proper meals in F (not even D1, just F) on the return SEA->JFK flight I’m on right now.
Thanks, Jessie! What are they serving?
Probably a stupid question, but I can’t figure out the MQMs on this flight. I’m looking at las-sea-msp-sju-jfk-las in first class, and Delta says I’ll earn 22,394 MQMs. Are they factoring in the 75% bonus on that already? Great circle mapper puts the trip at 8,515 miles. That would only put the trip at 14,901 with the 75% bonus. Am I missing something?
Hi, Tom — looks like this is your first question here. Welcome! Yes, Delta recently started factoring in the 75% MQM and MQD bonuses.
Hi Chris on a fast mileage run like this do you do a COVID-19 test before you go I have the cdc card and have been vaccinated. Love the new look Thanks Mark R
Thanks for the comment, Mark.
All data points we have say that if you get a negative test in the US 72 hours before your departing flight that you should be good.
But Puerto Rico is a US territory. I don’t see any such restrictions in place.
Mark,
There are many opportunities to do a Mileage Run and only get one COVID PCR test. At Juicy Miles, we have been crafting Mileage Runs which allow travelers to take a test, say on Thursday and return to the United States on Monday, even after a true international run!
Creative thinking and routing innovation can provide great results with less hassle.
Puerto Rico, USVI and some other US destinations also can be great opportunities.
