A Bronx woman was none too happy about her removal from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship — after she tested positive for COVID-19
Plus, American Airlines is bringing back some of its flights attendant who took voluntary leaves.
Those are some of the day’s travel-related headlines I thought you, too, may find interesting.
Maritime Meltdown
Royal Caribbean passenger Laura Angelo was unvaccinated against COVID-19. And wouldn’t you know it? She tested positive for the coronavirus two days into the sailing.
Ms. Angelo, who lives in New York, was escorted off the Freedom of the Seas (pictured above) ship, which departed from Miami. People in hazmat gear are seen as a wheelchair takes her off the ship.
Inside Edition reports Ms. Angelo “insists the test result was not accurate. She said she had COVID-19 three months earlier, but had fully recovered, and was no longer contagious. Angelo says she’s had three COVID tests since leaving the ship, and they were all negative.”
Reasons like this are why René will only sail on NCL.

As a Bronx native I hope that she received a rousing Bronx cheer as a farewell gesture.
Regarding Rene’s preference for a 100% vaccinated ship. various studies are showing Covid prevention in the high 60s to low 90s after the final jab. Assuming the more virulent Delta (or even the Lambda) variant is what you are most likely to be exposed to, let us say for the sake of argument that you are 85% protected after your final jab. That still leaves you a 15 percent chance of catching COVID. You are not bullet proof on a 100% vaccinated ship by any means. I would still suggest social distancing, especially if you are returning home from the cruise on a flight that requires you have a negative Covid test before boarding.
You’re right. The chances of catching it are tiny (you have to multiply the chances of catching it by the chances of being exposed, a fraction of a percent) and the chances of serious sickness are almost zero.
Oh wow she seems like a real winner. I feel sorry for anyone that is in her social circles or married to her.
Had she been vaccinated this would have been wrong. Someone who is vaccinated and asymptomatic poses little risk to any one and in fact shouldn’t even be tested. Since she wasn’t vaccinated, I feel they did the right thing. I agree that shaming her by taking a video was wrong, as it sharing or watching that video, which is why I won’t be doing any of those.
