Disney World is cracking down — on people’s beautiful smiles being covered by face masks in pictures!
Plus, Carnival Cruise Lines says they may pull ships from US ports.
Those are some of today’s travel-related headlines I thought you, too, may find interesting.
Disney World Mask Policy: Take ’em Off For Pictures!
I guess Disney World wants people to see that guests are enjoying themselves. And that’s pretty hard to do when you can’t see parkgoers’ happy facial expressions (such as smiles) in pictures.
So the Mouse House is relaxing D-World’s face mask policy — and will allow guests to remove their masks outdoors when taking pictures. (Parkgoers are currently allowed to not wear masks when actively eating and drinking.)
You know darn well that some people are going to try to really take advantage of this. Like people live streaming or vlogging their visits.
No such luck, though.
As Fox News notes, Disney World’s website says, “You may temporarily remove your face covering while actively eating, drinking or taking a photo*, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing during this time (*Beginning April 8).”
Meanwhile, on the Left Coast, Disneyland and California Adventure will start selling tickets on April 15.
Carnival Cruise Lines: We’ll Leave US Ports
Carnival Cruise Lines seems pretty sick of the government contracting itself when it comes to COVID-19 guidance. (Like, gee, when has that happened during the past couple of weeks?)
And now they’re threatening to move its ships out of US harbors until things get sorted out. As much fun (and easy) as it is to bag on Carnival, I bet they pay a pretty penny in rent, facilities, and labor. Losing that money would hurt ports.

Covid doesn’t stop transmitting for lunch and selfies. How many more will have to die before they realize the masks need to stay on all the time? Fauci says wear masks.
Outdoor transmission is practically non-existent, and the few documented cases are either hybrid indoor/outdoor spaces, or places where people were crowded together for extended periods of time. The risk you pose to other people by standing far away from them and taking a photo is so, so minuscule as to be ignorable.
