We found a quick, weekend mileage run in Delta first class (so, you know, business class 😉 ) from Ft. Lauderdale (FLL) to Los Angeles (LAX). This could be especially nice for folks in Atlanta who can position to/from FLL.
Our sample trip leaves Saturday, May 1, at 2:45 PM. (Again, perfect for positioning into FLL!). It connects in Detroit (DTW) before heading out to LAX. There’s a brief layover (about 80 minutes) before flying the route in reverse. It gets you back to FLL just before 11:00 AM. (Plenty of options to position back home if you don’t live in the Ft. Lauderdale area.)
Because Delta is awarding 75% MQM and MQD bonuses on premium cabin trips, this trip is projected to earn approximately 16,314 MQM and $1040 MQM. The going rate is $678.80.

Assuming Delta credits everything correctly, here’s what the trips should ultimately look like:
- Cost: $678.80
- Route: FLL-DTW-LAX-DTW-FLL
- MQM: 16,314 (4.2 CPM)
- MQD: $1040
- Base SkyMiles: 2,970
