Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders received some pleasant news today.
Pay Yourself Back Extended
The cards’ Pay Yourself Back feature is now extended through September 2021. Chase Ultimate Rewards® points earned on purchases made at grocery stores, restaurants/dining (including takeout and eligible delivery services), home improvement stores, and select charitable organizations are all eligible.
Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders can redeem those points for 1.5 cents each in statement credit. Meanwhile, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card may cash them in at 1.25 cents per.
$300 “Expanded” Travel Credit Extended
The Chase Sapphire Reserve® offers cardholders an annual $300 in statement credits for travel-related purchases. (The “annual” is based on card membership year — not calendar year.) Chase generously added in a few other categories last year (since, you know, not many people were traveling). Those features have just been extended.
So through December 2021, gas station and grocery store shopping purchases will count toward the $300 travel credit.
I’ve truly appreciated both of these benefits during the pandemic. They helped my family save much-needed money.
Chase Dining Redemptions Extended
Cardholders can redeem their points for 1.25 cents each (Sapphire Preferred) or 1.50 cents each (Reserve) for purchases made with Chase Dining. This isn’t anything I’ve used (none of the restaurants are near my home).
And through at least June 2021, cardholders earn 10X points on purchases (up to $500 limit) made through Chase Dining in the Ultimate Rewards portal.
Pelton Benefits
Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders earn up to $120 in statement credits on Peloton Digital and All-Access Memberships through December 31, 2021. (Enrollment requirement.) Plus, they earn 10X total points (up to 50,000 points) on every Peloton Bike, Tread and accessory purchase over $1,800.
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card folks can receive up to $60 in statement credits on Peloton Digital and All-Access Memberships through December 31, 2021. (Again, enrollment requirement.) They earn 5X total points (up to 25,000 points) on every Peloton Bike, Tread and accessory purchase over $1,800.
Final Approach
I appreciate that Chase is diversifying its redemption opportunities and statement credit offers. The grocery store, dining, and gas station benefits are especially helpful to my family. We haven’t sprung for any Peloton gear (we’re old fashioned and pretty much stick to taking walks for exercise) but for people who own some or are considering such purchases, the Chase Sapphire cards can certainly help out a bit.
