Will All-Inclusive Resorts Become a New Haven for Anti-Vaxxers?

Will all-inclusive resorts become a new haven for anti-vaxxers?

About a dozen major cruise lines will require passengers (and crew) to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before they can step onboard a ship. That’s bad news for about 33% of the US population who are predicted to conscientiously decline the coronavirus vaccine.

In fact, one doctor has called for a boycott of Royal Caribbean.

WOW: @RoyalCaribbean cruises is now requiring you to get an experimental vaccine to book a cruise with them.

I will be boycotting the company instead. Who else is with me? #BoycottRC pic.twitter.com/5xSNzyz0It

(That reminds me of the old cliche, “You can’t fire me because I’m quitting!” I mean, it looks like Royal Caribbean is boycotting the anti-vaccination crowd instead of the other way around.)

One of the great perks of cruises is they offer at least some all-inclusive food and beverage products and services.

Hot breakfast is served during room service on the Paul Gauguin cruise ship in Tahiti.

So where can anti-vaxxers go to still enjoy some of those benefits?

Easy! (At least, for now.) Land-based all-inclusive resorts. So do you think those properties will become new havens for anti-vaxxers — and potential COVID outbreaks?

And most major hotel chains have resorts where you can redeem points for your stays. (See a selection of hotel credit cards now.)

Hilton has ten. IHG lays claim to a pair: the Holiday Inn Resort Montego Bay All-Inclusive and Holiday Inn Resort Ixtapa All-Inclusive. Marriott and Hyatt are also in on the all-inclusive action.

Now, each country has its own COVID entry and quarantine rules. So that may make an impact on what’s available and to whom.

Plus, this post praises all-inclusive resorts as “a smart and responsible choice this year.”

What Do You Think?

Will cruise lines’ vaccination requirements either encourage or discourage you to book with them? Do you think all-inclusive resorts will see a boom in business from anti-vaccination travelers? Please share your thoughts in the below Comments section!

I think so unless the insurance for this all-inclusive increases dramatically for allowing this. I have a feeling it’s going to be harder and harder to be an anti-vaxxer.

This is beyond stupid. Vaccinations for other diseases (e.g. typhoid, malaria) have been required for years to visit certain destinations and no one bats an eyelash. At this point, I think the anti-vax crowd is mostly politically motivated and embraced by provocateurs who rant mostly as clicbait for their own vanity and not in the interest of anyone’s health.
For a cruise line whose demographic definitely skews older, as does the Covid death rate, they are definitely within their rights, if not outright responsibility, to try to offer a safer environment for their guests.

I am not an anti-vaxer. However, I am anti-stupid. Stupid IMO is believing a pandemic = 98% survival rate and near zero deaths and contagion among children. I’m traveling this summer to a country that requires CV19 vaccination so ill get the shot. But unlike many pro-vaxers, getting the shot doesn’t represent my baptism into the church of covid.

When did the far right become a bunch of granola eating California hippie antivaxers?
