And the Rio Las Vegas is becoming — a Hyatt?

Laser Incidents Increase
We all know air traffic declined last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But something that increased was the number of “laser strikes” reported by pilots.
Wanna guess how many?
Fox News says there were “6,852 laser incidents reported to the FAA.” That represents a ~12% increase from 2019 when there were, y’know, more planes flying.
That’s almost 19 a day. People must be morbidly, psychotically bored.
This news comes out after a Tel Aviv-bound flight was forced to return to Heathrow.
Her Name Was Rio…
Rio Las Vegas has been the subject of many rumors for the past couple of years. I think the biggest (and my favorite, sorry) was the resort would be demolished and replaced by a baseball stadium.
But big news broke today: Rio is becoming a Hyatt.
I’m guessing there will be a couple of cosmetic changes. But, c’mon: a Hyatt In the Sky Parade at various intervals throughout the day would be pretty interesting, right?
Also — I’m curious where (and if) Rio’s shows (Penn & Teller, Chippendales, WOW!, etc) will move. I wonder if they’ll head to properties managed by Caesars (who currently runs Rio) or if MGM Resorts might pounce.
And for those who now have a certain Duran Duran song stuck in their head or wonder about the above “Her name is Rio” reference:
