Some California college students can make a little money simply by not taking spring break trips.

Plus, the world’s longest river cruise itinerary was finally revealed!

Those are some of today’s travel headlines I thought you, too, may find interesting.

College Students: Get Paid to Stay

The University of California, Davis, is offering up to 500 students the opportunity to earn money — just by agreeing to not travel during spring break.

Interested students must apply for one of the grants — which are $75 each. The program is titled the “Healthy Davis Together Spring Break Grant” and reminds students that “per state guidance, all non-essential travel should be avoided, and staying local is a good way to do your part in slowing the spread of COVID-19.”

I highly doubt $75 will entice people — even most college students — to change their travel plans. (H/T KTLA Morning News)

World’s Longest River Cruise Itinerary is Revealed

Wow, this really sounds like an amazing time!

AmaWaterways announced the itinerary for its Seven River Journey — a cruise spanning 46 days, 14 countries, seven rivers, and four different ships

TripSavvy explains:

The first leg will start on the AmaLyra as a weeklong roundtrip journey along the Seine to Paris before switching to the AmaKristina for a weeklong journey on the Saone and Rhone rivers, stopping at both Lyon and Tarascon, France.

Consider it a warm up because the last two legs are packed with ports, starting aboard the AmaPrima, where guests will spend three weeks cruising the Rhine, Moselle, and Main Rivers on their way to ports in Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. Passengers will spend the last two weeks of this once-in-a-lifetime itinerary on the Danube visiting Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Romania aboard the AmaVerde.

The itinerary’s maiden voyage launches on June 1, 2023. Reservations will be available starting next week.

The price? A bargain-basement rate of only $25,999 per person. (Some UC Davis students can book it for just $25,924 if they apply their stay-at-home grant. 😉 )

$75 is a pittance to refrain from doing something that will have no effect on their well-being. Students will do what students do wherever they are. Travel is the least dangerous part of the trip. What you do when you are where you are is what affects infection rate.
