President Joe Biden now has a pretty sweet ride at his disposal. But yesterday, as President-Elect, he took a Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) from New Castle Airport in Wilmington, Delaware, to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
The brief, half-hour flight was aboard a sweet BBJ from JetEdge, an aviation company based in Van Nuys, California.
And it appears to be a gorgeous aircraft.
He reportedly opted for the private jet after security concerns prevented him from taking his usual, beloved form of transportation: Amtrak.
CNN’s Jim Acosta said Biden’s team “did not ask for a government plane” to ferry the incoming Pres to Washington.
WH official said Biden team did not ask for a government plane to bring PEOTUS to DC. The official said the administration explained to the Biden team what the options were. But aides to Biden explained they preferred to fly on private aircraft, the official added.

Not sure if he was offered one by now-former President Donald Trump.
Side note: the flight’s call sign was “JetEdge 34.” I wonder why they didn’t go with “JetEdge 46” in honor of Mr. Biden becoming, y’know, the 46th POTUS. Maybe it was security? (FWIW, the plane’s tail number is N834BZ, so the “34” may come from there and that had something to do with it. Maybe 34 is a lucky number. Who knows.)
The 737-700 is designed to hold 16 people (yes, just 16). It has six beds, three lavatories, and two showers. There are also convection ovens and widescreen HD TVs with AppleTVs and Blu-ray players.
Oh, and free Wi-Fi in the United States.
(Now I understand why Mr. Biden and his entourage took so long getting off the plane when it touched down yesterday. I’d totally hang out on it as long as I could: sipping beverages, eating food, and binging Discovery+ shows.)

Takeaways for me on this is that it seems like a really short flight, like 100 miles but I get that it’s a VIP mode of transportation.
This flight will be worth paying for and I would love to take it.
