Something’s missing on affiliate and official Amex pages: the annual $200 airline incidental credit benefit.
Given that the American Express® Gold Card is eliminating its $100 airline incidental credit, one could certainly wonder if the Platinum would do the same.
But two different spokespeople confirmed directly to me the AmPlat’s $200 airline incidental credit is not going away.
Indeed, Traveling for Miles noted the benefit is tucked into the “Benefit Terms” (read: small print) section of the application page.
We’ve written that using the benefit has become rather difficult for many people. (Although Pay with Miles cash balances triggered it earlier this year.) So there’s still that to deal with. But I’ll admit that I’d bellyache if the benefit went away. Now, there are many ways Amex could convert the benefit into something easier to use…

Too bad. It is the single worst thing about the card, and it needs to be made into a $200 annual travel credit. This card is a big ripoff after year 1 .
Single worst thing of this card and Hilton Aspire card, especially during COVID. Amex hasn’t done sh*t to make the Hilton Aspire worthwhile in 2020
I mean except that the entire $250 resort credit was turned into a restaurant credit. One of the better Covid credits out there.
I have nearly $500 of unused credits this year. As these cards renew they will be getting phone calls…
