American Express and Delta teamed up for an Amex Offer awarding targeted cardholders 500 bonus MQM and SkyMiles each time a user spends $1,000 in eligible transactions. (The offer is valid through December 31, 2020, and can be used up to 25,000 bonus MQM and 25,000 bonus SkyMiles).
People have asked me when the bonus MQM post to their SkyMiles accounts after accruing $1000 in purchases.
So let’s take a look — and see when you can expect your bonuses to hit!
What Do the Offer Terms State?
Let’s check out the offer’s fine print to see if that can help us. The terms and conditions state:
“…the bonus miles and MQMs will be credited to your Delta SkyMiles account 8-12 weeks after the end of each month.”
So there’s that.
My Bonus MQM and SkyMiles Posted with My Most Recent Statement
I racked up $1050.68 in spend on my Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Business American Express Card on (a very expensive) September 4.
My statement period closed on September 9. The next day, the 500 bonus MQM were credited to my Delta SkyMiles account.
So while the terms and conditions say 8-12 weeks, you can expect the MQM and bonus redeemable miles to post on your SkyMiles account when your Delta Amex’s statement period closes.

So I have the same offer… I spent over $4K in the period but only received 1,500 MQM’s and no bonus miles… I have contacted AMEX no less than 6 times via Chat and Calls and no one can see the offer nor is familiar with it… I am going to wait until my next statement closing date October 7th before checking back in with them again to see what is going on because things are not working correctly. Anyone else having issues?
I wonder if this bonus offer is what broke the AMEX status boost tracker. Lots of people aren’t seeing their spending tracker tick up.
Agreed, my tracker is broken as well!
Mine too, in fact I hadn’t even realized until I read this.
Santiago, do you possibly have another card holder on your account? I had a similar experience to you: My statement was for a bit over $4k, but I only got 1,000 MQM’s. However, upon reading my statement I realized that $2,700 was on my card, and $1,500 was on my wife’s card. She’s an additional cardholder. As I understand the promotion, only the charges made on the primary cardholder’s plastic count for the MQM promotion.
I do hope that “surplus” spending in Month A that is less than $1,000 will “spill over” to Month B for purposes of this promotion. For example, I spent $2,700 on my card this last period, so I got 1,000 MQM’s. I hope the “surplus” $700 will “spill over” to next month, so that after spending $300 I will trigger 500 MQM’s.
For sure, I read the fine print to ensure that I didn’t do that and have purposely used my card on all expenses.
Well, at least I’m not alone. My boost status tracker(s) have been broken since the 500skymile/500MQM $1000 spend program started. I called weeks ago… they said it would catch up in a day a or so… they didn’t!
My tracker on the AMEX site is broken as well. But on the Delta website/app your credit card spend is still up-to-date. It updates a little slower (a few days to a few weeks in some instances, I’ve never been able to figure out a rhyme or reason to the variable update times) and it is only in increments 1000s instead of the exact amount, but it is updating.
3,500 bonus MQMS posted for me today for August spend. It’s 7×500, and I spent around $7500 for the month, so that lines up.
I generally don’t move spend around for promotions, but I’ve been flying almost every week this year, and if I can get to 150k MQMs or so with this bonuses… that’s not bad to maintain Plat into 2022(?).
So, maybe I’ll spend the $50k in Q4 here to get the 25k MQMs… I dunno… this is why I don’t bother adjusting behavior for this stuff.
Just, I never think it’s worth it to keep chasing these things.
