Chase announced their 5% bonus categories for Q4 2020 for cardholders of the Chase Freedom Visa and brand new Chase Freedom Flex Mastercard.
And before you get underwhelmed — as I’ve already heard from people — let’s see how these offers are actually great for the upcoming season.
PayPal and Walmart purchases will earn 5% cashback (or 5X Ultimate Rewards) on eligible purchases, up to $1500 in combined, total spending from October 1, 2020, through December 31, 2020. (Put simply: spend up to $1500, get up to $75/7500 Ultimate Rewards points back.)
Cardholders must log into their Chase account and manually activate the offer.
You may think, PayPal and Walmart? Meh.
On the surface, they’re not as sexy as Amazon, streaming services, and grocery stores (which also were 5% Chase Freedom cashback categories this year).
But let’s dig a little deeper.
Why This Works for the Holidays
I love this opportunity.
Many online retailers accept PayPal — so this offer essentially gives you a 5% discount on those purchases. (Make sure to start your shopping sessions through cashback portals like Rakuten, TopCashback, and BeFrugal, so you earn extra cashback!)
Plus, keep an eye on PayPal Digital Gifts: they sell e-gift cards and often run specials. So that’s another way to save money on gift cards for someone else — or yourself. (We’ll let you know if we see any offers. Make sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook.)
Do you have trick-or-treaters that come to your door? Great. Walmart sells candy — might as well get 5% back, right? (Halloween annoys the heck out of me — but I love saving money!)
Don’t forget there are plenty of groceries, gifts, toiletries, and more at Wallyworld.
You won’t necessarily become a zillionaire with the Chase Freedom/Flex 5% categories. But 5% cashback is pretty sweet. Make sure to add your Chase Freedom or Chase Freedom Flex to your PayPal account, put in your wallet, and start saving next month!
