Most of us have spent years (cumulatively) staying in hotels. So when we remember something particular about a hotel, it’s a quality that’s either superb or atrocious.
Many hotel beds are average: decent but unremarkable. But the ultra-comfortable beds help provide great memories of a trip. We get better sleep and are more relaxed — which, in turn, makes everything better (well, unless you oversleep and miss a flight or something).
So I’m curious: which hotels (or Airbnbs, etc.) have made you feel like “Wow!” — and are still etched into your memory?
The Two Most Comfortable Hotel Beds I’ve Enjoyed
Two hotels instantly spring to mind when I think of the “most comfortable hotel bed.”
Hotel ZaZa Dallas Uptown
My kingsize bed at the Hotel ZaZa Dallas Uptown was fantastic.
I enjoyed a great night’s sleep — thanks to the plush and cozy bed and bedding. The mattress was a perfect combination of soft and firm.
I remember waking up in the middle of the night. I felt blissfully relaxed and dozed back to sleep.
Everything was great: the mattress, bedding, pillows. (The ZaZa is a very nice hotel in general; I highly recommend it.)
I stayed there about four years ago for a concert photoshoot at the American Airlines Center. Unfortunately, we were in Dallas only one night before heading to the next city. My coworkers and I desperately wanted to spend another night ZaZa simply because the beds were terrific. We had to check out right after lunch and head to Dallas Love Field -and didn’t have time for a nap. 🙁
To this day, those of us on that trip still talk about the awesome Hotel ZaZa Dallas beds.
Westchester Marriott
My wife and I attended her second cousin’s wedding in Sleepy Hollow, New York, back in fall 2011. We stayed at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown.
Good gosh. The bed was uh-mazing.
The rest of the hotel was nice — nothing mind-blowing. But the bed felt downright luxurious. No offense to the Marriott, but I didn’t expect to experience a bed I’d rave about almost ten years later.
The sheets were soft, mattress excellent, and pillows perfect for dreaming.
Honorable Mention: Most Comfortable Pillows
I love Delano Las Vegas.
Whenever my wife and I book a stay there, we talk about the pillows weeks — if not months — in advance.
The bed and sheets are fine. Nothing special, though. I wouldn’t write home (or blog, as it were) about them.
But the pillows are downright heavenly.
I spent an hour one morning calling Mandalay Bay’s housekeeping, gift shop, and operations department trying to source four I order. I took pictures of the pillow’s tags during a Delano stay — but they’re not available for sale to the general public.

My all time favorite is the Ritz Carlton Budapest, Hungary.
A very close second is the French Leave Resort in Eleuthera, Bahamas
Cosmopolitan Las Vegas
Renaissance Downtown Hotel, Dubai. Definitely the most comfortable bed EVER. Didn’t want to leave.
I also need to mention to the custom size gigantic beds at Al Maha. Definitely the biggest beds I’ve ever seen.
Are Marriott beds and bedding the same across the country? I’m talking about the Marriott brand — not their other brands such as Courtyard, Fairfield, etc. Just wondering about Marriott only.
For me it is the Seoul Hyatt, something I always look forward to when on the 13+ hour flight to get there….
The St Regis beds are uniformly the best beds I’ve slept in, no matter the specific location. From New York to Singapore to Mauritius, they are amazing. I have never slept harder than I have when sleeping at a St Regis.
I do have to give an honorary shout out to Al Maha, as commented above. Those beds are enormous and extremely comfortable.
For some reason several Holiday Inns I have stayed in have mattresses that are phenomenal and very comfortable.
