A famous Las Vegas resort is for sale. And one more is rumored for demolition.
Plus, a big fight broke out at a Hard Rock hotel. But least most of the participants wore masks.
Those are some of today’s travel headlines I thought you, too, may find interesting.
Stop, Trop, and Roll?
Things are getting interesting south of the Las Vegas Blvd. & Tropicana Avenue intersection.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported today that Gaming and Leisure Properties wants to sell the Tropicana resort and casino (which is a DoubleTree hotel, FWIW).

Across the street, rumors are swirling Luxor faces implosion. (If that happens, book a north-facing room at Mandalay Bay or Delano — if they let you.)

Vital Vegas notes:
De-theming casinos in Las Vegas has happened fairly frequently in recent years, as the perception of themes has evolved from cool to kitschy (or downright tacky) over time.
Many changes have already been made at Luxor to move away from its original theme, but it’s virtually impossible to re-imagine a massive pyramid.
But the pyramid and sphinx might not be the only resort turning to dust. Does its neighbor to the north face a similarly uncertain future?
“The same dilemma is faced by Excalibur,” Vital Vegas says. “Good luck tweaking a castle.”
