Delta Air Lines announced today it will reintroduce alcoholic beverages on domestic flights — but on a limited basis.
The change goes into effect on Thursday, July 2.
Four beers and single-serving red and white wines while be offered. Further, only first class and Comfort+ passengers will be allowed to partake. Their drinks will be complimentary, as per those seats’ benefits.
The suds and vino will not yet be available to passengers in the cheap seats. A Delta spokesperson said the airline will evaluate this initial rollout before expanding the beverage offering.
“Since beer and wine selections have fewer touch points than other adult beverage options and are individually contained, they are the first to be reintroduced on-board as Delta brings back food and beverage options,” Delta said in the announcement. “Flight attendants will pass the cans and single-serve bottles – which are complimentary in both First Class and Delta Comfort+ – using serving trays to minimize touch points on-board.”
What Beers Will Be Available?
Per their announcement, Delta said Heineken, Miller Lite, SweetWater 420, and SweetWater IPA will be served.
No word on which wines will be uncorked (or, more accurately, unscrewed).

Great! Prices are pretty low right now. Two weeks ago I booked San Jose to Minneapolis for only $238 RT (departing on Aug. 17) and used upgrade certificates to get confirmed seats in first class. I also got non-stop flights with very nice times. This will be my first flight since late March.
