We criticize the TSA fairly often because, well, the organization generally makes itself an easy target.
But we’re also believers in “Give credit when credit is due.”
The TSA says officers change gloves for each pat-down. (I hope that means they discard them, too!) On top of that, “[P]assengers may request TSA officers to change gloves at any time.”
That Being Said…
I’d warn against being obnoxious and making the officers repeatedly change their gloves — like you’re pranking them or something.
Final Approach
I think changing gloves is a necessary practice — especially in this COVID-19 day and age — but it’s good TSA is making people aware of the initiative. So let’s hand it to them.

Just, piles and piles and piles of plastic flowing into our landfills.
In April, I almost filled the passenger footwell of my rental car with Styrofoam take out boxes, since I wasn’t allowed to eat inside.
This just adds to the speed at which we destroy our planet

Why weren’t they doing it before? Covid or no Covid, gloves are a haven for cross-contamination unless changed, especially when digging through bags and people’s things.

Credit where it is due, certainly. But while TSA gets an atta boy for knowing when to change gloves (lets see how long this lasts) why not aspire for a greater goal? Let’s reassess the efficacy and even the necessity of TSA. Security Theater has lost its appeal to me and I suspect others as well. The lack of impactful accomplishments, the massive (necessary if effective) inconveniences, delays and unnecessary and often intrusive encounters with the traveling public with zero measurable effect on flight safety beg for such a re-evaluation.
No TSA horror stories from me today though they my family and I certainly have experienced them. Just this note to say I think this is an ideal time to rebuild aviation safety from the ground up…ideally to either entirely reinvent or disband TSA altogether.
