Delta Air Lines announced today it’s suspending flights to Stuttgart Airport (STR) in Germany, effective next month.
Stuttgart is undergoing runway renovation and “[as] the remaining runway length is insufficient for long haul aircraft to take off and land,” Delta explains, “Delta will not operate its nonstop service to Atlanta between March 29 and June 17.”
All is not lost, though! Passengers can take advantage of Stuttgart service via Paris (CDG) and Amsterdam (AMS) on Air France and KLM.
ATL to STR service will resume June 18.

Seems like Delta is going to have a lot of extra capacity of long-haul aircraft sitting around (China) wonder what routes they are adding the capacity to? I am sure they would love to schedule some maintenance or speed up the reconfiguration of 767’s or 777’s but I am sure all that is scheduled out and not extra capacity with companies to do that or furnishings manufactured.
