I always get excited when finding a halfways-decent mileage run for our Atlanta readers! While this isn’t a lucrative as an MQD run, it brings in a nice amount of MQM. Plus, it’s a trip in Delta Premium Select to the new Beijing Daxing International Airport!
–> You will need a Chinese visa for this trip. Please plan accordingly. <–
Several dates are available. Here’s a Google Flights link to start your search. (You can always ask the Juicy Miles folks to do the heavy lifting for you, too.)
This itinerary departs Thursday, April 2 at 9:40 AM, connects through Detroit, and gets you to Beijing on Friday at 2:00 PM. The DTW to PKX leg is in A350 Premium Select!
You’ll stay two nights in Beijing (I have a recommendation for sightseeing) and depart for home Sunday night at 5:15 PM (again in Premium). Connect again in DTW and then arrive back in the ATL just before 11:00 PM.
- Cost: $1,632.45
- Dates: Varies.
- Route: ATL-DTW-PKX. Stay in Beijing. PKX-DTW-ATL.
- MQM: 21,206 MQM (7.7 CPM)

SkyMiles Elite Plus members (Gold, Platinum, and Diamond) enjoy complimentary access to Delta Sky Clubs while traveling on international itineraries and may bring a guest.
The US domestic legs are in Comfort+. But the “premium” fare class will get you a boost on the upgrade list.
What To Do in Beijing
Beijing was the first destination to which my wife and I took our first Delta mileage run.
We hired an awesome tour service — with English speaking guides! — called Catherine Lu Tours. We did their private Tian’anmen Square – Forbidden City – Great Wall tour. (I know. Their website has such an odd picture for that tour.) It was exhausting but 100% worth every single cent.
I’m not sure if they still offer this service, but we also hired one of their drivers to pick us up at PEK and bring us back to the airport for our return home. I remember the prices being very reasonable.
I hope that helps!
