A while back a very kind reader helped us here on the blog review what was then the mega hyped new Delta One LSTN “noise canceling” headphones. I say mega hyped because Delta went so far as to send out the real $180 version of the LSTN noise canceling headphones to most of the top spending Delta 360 Diamonds. The latter was a decent set of headphones while the ones onboard Delta jets were, at best, meh!
So how about these new Delta Widget branded ones that are now found on Delta One jets both domestically transcon and internationally?
Unlike the LSTN ones that were in a reusable bag, the new ones come in a cardboard paper sealed wrap.
First impressions? They look good and much like higher end headphones like the Bose QuietComfort 35 (in no way saying they are the same – clear). The earphone swivels move effortlessly and the head size adjustment moves well but holds in place. A promising start.
Even in a darkened cabin it is simple to see the “R & L” labeling to make sure you get them on the right way for max comfort. The plug is standard Delta dual jack to, I assume, dissuade folks from walking off with these and using them at home. But would you want to use these anywhere but onboard (or even onboard).
No!
These headphones are a slight improvement over the old LSTN headphones but beyond that they are total junk. The cuffs are hard and will hurt your head with extended use. The “active noise canceling” is worthless and not even noticeable. The only reason to use these would be because they are better than the free earbuds they pass out to the rest of the passengers in Comfort Plus and Main Cabin coach or that the headphones you brought onboard are not working!

Folks, I have for YEARS now been beyond thrilled with my Naztech Cordless Bluetooth Active Noise Canceling Headphones paired with a tiny Bluetooth transmitter that I plug into the Delta headphone jack to have amazing sound quality onboard. Plus, it has a volume wheel that I can quickly turn to ZERO when FAs make 80-decibel announcements. For the quality/cost / features, nothing compares.
Have you tested the new Delta One headphones. Were you impressed or as unimpressed as I was with the new offerings? – René

Delta is the value-airline. AA/UA hasve far premium products form the lounges to the food. Delta One is a joke, even the suites. Ill take AA Biz or new polaris over suites anyday.
Ha! That’s hilarious! AA/UA better than Delta? Ha ha ha ha!
Oh I thought I could keep them. no wonder the dual port doesn’t work on anything
Horrible headphones! It took me a while to realize how bad these headphones are because I assumed they should be good just from the appearance.
– Very uncomfortable on my big ears
– Every ~2 seconds, audio cut out. I had assumed it was the infotainment screen but it turned out to be caused by the headphones. Person sitting next to me had the same issue.
– My 10 year old tiny little Klipsch earphones cancelled sound way better than these and were much more comfortable
is there an adapter for the dual headphones jack to normal headphone jack?
@keenan – No. You will need to pick one up on Amazon etc. You can try using one hole only and pull it out a tiny bit and it normally picks up stereo but an adapter is better.
These headphones don’t do active noise cancellation within the headphones but rather one of the stereo prongs is actually for a stereo mic return and the active cancellation is processed inside the media unit you’ve plugged the headphones into and then the combined audio is pumped out to the speakers.
how can you buy this one? i was searching but not find. Do you have link?
@Eli – Sadly they have been out of manufacture for quite some time. I upgraded to Bose Q45 using my Amex Business DELL credits but sadly you can not long do that either. But there are other quality options you can consider. See THIS post!
