First things first: if you’re traveling in the Upper Midwest — especially through Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) — this weekend, please be aware of the waiver Delta has in effect Saturday and Saturday.

Now, on with the show!

I hope you enjoyed at least some of the holiday week! I was in Fargo and on my way back home to the warmer weather and hideous traffic of Southern California 🙂 .

Did you travel anywhere? Share with us in the Comments section!

But first: our final weekly recap of 2019!

Prepping for 2020!

The new Medallion qualification year starts Wednesday. René has some ideas (as do some helpful readers in the post’s comment section) about ways to meet Delta Amex spending requirements.

Rene’s Mileage Run

René started his weekend by starring in a Washington Post feature about mileage running! Then he took a mileage run to Brussels for dinner. (Hey, they have great mussels over there!)

He saw a Delta gate agent provide great service in Detroit. He started the run in Las Vegas — and used a Regional Upgrade Certificate (RUC) to get a nice, cushy seat up front.

On a somewhat related note, make sure to read his post about paying an entire mega-trip with points.

Speaking of which…

Mileage Runs

We found a couple of good mileage runs this week that earn very nice MQD. One was for Atlanta flyers (yes, you read that right) and the other for San Francisco Bay Area folks.

A Lesson Learned

One of my family members lost out on several thousand easy points — simply because he didn’t have the right credit card. Learn from his mistake.

Dress Code

Two fashion-related topics came up this week: Should People Dress Up for Flights? and Should Airline Crews Be Allowed to Dress Up for Holidays?

What Are You Watching?

A recent article uncovered the most popular movies and TV shows on several major airlines this year. And Wonderfully Ale (one of my favorite YouTubers) proudly showed off her airline’s new logo and plane interior.

Goodbye, 2019

Here are the blog’s most-read posts during 2019!

The Week Ahead

We’ll have a few reminders about to what do as 2019 ends and 2020 begins.

In the meantime: thank you, thank you, and thank you again for a great year of reading, commenting, and sharing.

Actually did travel last week; was short 300 MQM to maintain Diamond Status so took an overnight LAX-LAS-LAX Dec 23rd-24th with the wife used $200 Delta Credit that was about to expire 2nd week in Jan so basically free. Had a great early Christmas dinner at Piero’s and got in some last-minute shopping in at the Fashion Show Mall and while waiting on an earlier flight to leave which cleared won $200 on Video Poker 4 Aces at the airport (who plays video poker at the airport!). All a good 24hrs!

I am now on the hunt for an early in the year, end of January milage vacation run on a Delta Partner as this year want to qualify MQD’s on flight not Amex spend., but we’ll see. Seen a few weeks back on MU Business not sure what fare class LAX-PVG-MLE-PVG-LAX including 3 days in MLE and 3-day stopover in PVG sub $1900 for 20,252 miles flown but didn’t pull the trigger now over $4000k lesson learned see a fare like that get it!

why couldn’t the deaf actress just find a french or chinese or japanese film and read the subtitles vs bringing up ADA stuff and causing fines for the airlines or whomever else they want to torture
