While A Star is Born and Crazy Rich Asians didn’t win Best Picture awards at either this year’s Oscars or Golden Globe Awards, they did take top honors elsewhere. They were the most popular inflight movies across several airlines during 2019.
(Perhaps they should enlist this Oscar and Golden Globe-campaigning Jennifer Lopez superfan.)
A recent Fortune magazine article details which movies and TV shows were the most watched on Southwest, Alaska, United, and JetBlue.
Delta Air Lines was not included; perhaps they didn’t want more attention to their inflight entertainment this year.
Bohemian Rhapsody was another favorite film, as was Aquaman.
TV-wise, it seems passengers prefer comedies or the occasional reality show. The Big Bang Theory appeared in all of the favorite television series lists. Friends and The Office also scored high with viewers in the sky. (Though I was disappointed my personal inflight favorites, black-ish and Impractical Jokers didn’t make any of the lists.)

Hey, Chris
My wife and I would have bumped Bohemian Rhapsody up the charts by ourselves.
I’ve also watched (and again) The Accountant, Red Sparrow and Chef.
An issue that can impact enjoyment is how much editing will be applied to the movie to make it ‘suitable’ for other eyes onboard. Regardless, I’m grateful to have the opportunity to enjoy IFE. Now if only we could get those Airbus tailcams installed, right? 🙂
@Larry B: Exactly!!
