Beverages can be spendy — especially at places such as resorts. Whether by the pool or at the midpoint lodge, a tasty drink can quickly run you $15 (or more). But there is a somewhat clandestine method that may save you a ton of money.
These flasks look a lot like real sunscreen lotion bottles.
When I spend a few days in Las Vegas, I visit the CVS or Wallgreens on the Strip. Even though a 750mL bottle of Buffalo Trace may run $40, that’s certainly cheaper than buying drinks individually — even when we don’t finish the bottle during our stay.
I pour the good stuff into a sunscreen flask and bring it with me to the pool. The flask looks just the real thing and security guards rarely look twice. (Especially when tossed into a good pool bag). I bring along my real sunscreen, too, of course.
If asked, I just say one of the bottles contains sunscreen for my face (which is true!) or is almost empty.
We’ll usually order a Coke and then add our special ingredients.

Even if you don’t like alcohol (or aren’t old enough to legally consume it), the flasks can store nice reserves of soda, juice, water, or other similar beverages.
These are also great options for skiers looking to save money at the midpoint lodge.

Looking for a last-minute present? Sunscreen flasks could make a fun stocking stuffer or Secret Santa gift.
Cheers! (Responsibly, of course!)
–Chris
