Airline pilots make several public address announcements during flights: “fasten your seatbelts,” “enjoy your flight,” “thanks for flying our airline,” “enjoy your day” … You know the drill.

But a JetBlue pilot honored a passenger’s unique and very specific request: ask an entire flight to watch Jennifer Lopez’s film Hustlers while the plane traveled from New York to Los Angeles on Monday.

The film stars Constance Wu and Ms. Lopez, who are part of a cadre of strippers that also includes Cardi B, Lizzo, Keke Palmer, and Lili Reinhart. The Washington Post says Hustlers is “a wild, modern-day Robin Hood tale that critics are hailing as ‘enormously entertaining.'”

The role garnered Ms. Lopez a Golden Globe nomination yesterday for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture.

The only person more excited than a grateful Ms. Lopez was JLo superfan and MEL Magazine writer Joseph Longo (He’s another JLo. Get it?).

He tweeted JetBlue:

In honor of JLO’s #GoldenGlobes nomination this morning, I WILL make sure everyone watches Hustlers on this flight

— Joseph Longo (@josephlongo_) December 9, 2019

Well, JetBlue honored his request:

A @JetBlue pilot read my plea that passengers watch Hustlers in honor of @JLo’s #GoldenGlobes nom. I called myself The Backup JLo, but I guess I’m her backup dancer. The friendly skies supports our Fly Girl! pic.twitter.com/YSYV2gvTMD

— Joseph Longo (@josephlongo_) December 9, 2019

(Quick aside: while Ms. Lopez was nominated for a Golden Globe, the thing about “winning the Oscar” and “Oscar voters” alludes to one of two things:

  1. Someone who confused Golden Globes and Oscars. Understandable, given the 967 award shows between January and February.
  2. This is the time of year when Oscar voters vote for which films should be nominated for Academy Awards. Then they vote again after nominations are announced.)

How many people watched Hustlers as their inflight entertainment?

Lorene, thank YOU for creating a great film. I counted 15 flyers watching Hustlers https://t.co/Ug2lUIdNf7

For her part, Jennifer Lopez was pretty stoked about the her fan’s impromptu award campaign:

This is amazing!!!!!!! You can be my backup dancer any dayTHANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT! @josephlongo_ @JetBlue ♥️ https://t.co/eCiXRvI6G4

— Jennifer Lopez (@JLo) December 10, 2019

Readers: feel free to ask pilots if they’ll instruct passengers to read Rene’s Points during flights. 😉
