Delta Air Lines flight 127 from Madrid to JFK was canceled Tuesday after smoke filled the cabin and passengers were instructed to evacuate.

I’ve poked around a little bit and it appears no one was injured. (Probably just a lot of travel plans ruined — vouchers all around!) Although @roccotons added, “I have not stopped coughing. Don’t understand why they didn’t let us get off the plane right away.”
Now, I’m not a flight attendant, pilot, or EMS worker. But I presume this was out of an abundance of caution to make sure there wouldn’t be any fire outside the plane greeting evacuating passengers.
