UPDATE: SoFi now offers $25 bonuses for an initial deposit of at least $100.
OK, I am dumb to have been so slow to jump on this super simple deal and it may not last for much longer so I would jump on this one before it’s gone. I get that this is not a points thing so you may have discounted it, but the SoFi deal is so quick and simple and just free money.
As I mentioned in the title it will take you longer to read this post than simply get the deal. Here are the steps.
Step one is to unfreeze your Experian credit report (shame on you if you have not yet frozen all of the big 3). It is the only one you need to unfreeze. Then step two is to click HERE <-LINK and you will then have the steps below to follow (NOTE: you choose an individual account):
You are now all set to go and all you need to do is to transfer at least $100 to your brand new SoFi account from your bank. Once you link your bank (either via login or routing number and account) you do this:
Simple – quick – done and you have just earned $25 (and I get $25 as well btw for referring you – THANK YOU).
The next step is to download the SoFi app to access the link that will get you your own referrals to use. Then you send that link to your significant other, friend, family member, colleague, etc. and have them join SoFi just as you did.
SoFi, in fact, encourages this:
“The Eligible Money Referrers are encouraged to refer friends, colleagues, family members, and anyone else whom they have reason to believe may be interested in opening a Money account (the “Eligible Money Recipient(s)”).” – bold mine
Why not send a link to the rest of the family as well so they can benefit from the free cash as well as you?
I signed up at 10:AM. By 6:PM I had notice of not just the $50 credit for me but the $50 credit for referring my wife (and she got $50 as well for using my link). That means, between the two of us, we scored $150 for 5 minutes of “work”. Nice!
Lastly, I was advised I would get the cash credits inside 48 hours. At that point I can move the cash where I want (like to my main bank account).
I love a big company flush with cash that is willing to pay me to become a client. I hope you jump on THIS DEAL <-LINK as well and share it with those you know! – René

I keep reading about this company but it seems too good to be true. Too Good to be True = Not on the Up = Super sketchy
I need convincing.
@Aus Biker – Just look at a the wiki facts about them. 8 year old bank with 500m+ in revenue. This is just great marketing for them and we enjoy the perks!
Question: did you and your wife link separate bank accounts? Just wondering if it would work if you link the same one.
@Jennifer – We each setup our own Sofi (I sent her my link) but we both used the same bank account to fund each of our Sofi accounts i.e. that has no impact on me earning a referral or her earning a referral that is both have posted for us.
In case you get a reply that your Experian report is unlocked (after unfreezing it, as I did), you may be enrolled in Experian’s “lock and warn” program (which I was). You need to call them and request your file be permanently unlocked. Phone number is 714.830.7000×2.
You will still have access to the free “freeze” program. You can also pay for the Lock & Warn program for double security, but I haven’t felt this was needed as long as I use the freeze program.
