Airlines looooove them some Star Wars (and who can blame them?). Meanwhile, my kid is never getting into the ocean here in California.
We’ll introduce you to those topics and more. But for our warmup act, here’s a quick recap of this week at Rene’s Points!
Only two months reamin until 2020! René discussed some of the Delta happenings that surprised him this year — and others that didn’t.
I discovered SkyMiles Select counts (for now) toward your Amex airline incidental credit. We’ll have a couple of ways that Amex airline incidental credit still works for Delta purchases. Look for that post early to midweek. Don’t tell René but I purchased a first class upgrade just to see if it works. (So far: no.)
Delta is trading plane tickets for basketball tickets. Score?
Don’t forget to check your American Express cards to see if you were targeted for the $5 and/or 500 Membership Rewards points gas station offer.
A Delta passenger with measles from Amsterdam to PDX may have infected fellow passengers.
Need a new rollaboard? As of post time, this deal we blogged earlier this week is still alive!
Several Delta Amex limited time offers expired this week. But the business card offers decided to hang around. And you can find some good personal/consumer card deals if you hunt around. We updated our links to reflect the best deals we found available right now.

We analyzed several Delta Amex benefits this week including:
- Saving 20% on Delta Purchases Made Onboard During Flights with Delta American Express Cards
- A Mileage Run Without Getting On a Plane? Yes!
- Scoring More First Class Upgrades: How Delta American Express Cards Can Help
- Trip Delay Coverage with the Delta Reserve Cards and Delta Platinum American Express Cards
Do you have an Amex Platinum (consumer) and/or Gold card? Remember that monthly Uber Cash and food credits renewed yesterday for those respective cards.
Mileage Runs
A couple of great mileage runs to London popped up this week: one from Orange County, and another from LAX.
We post runs as we find ’em. But if you need a certain amount of MQM, MQS, or MQD (or something with another airline) do not wait around and hope we find your perfect run.
Drop a line to the mileage run team at Juicy Miles. I know a couple of their mileage run people and they are amazing.
Yes, Juicy Miles charges a (well-earned) service fee — but what they create for you personally might easily save you the time and money of positioning to another run.

Another Thank You
As I mentioned earlier this week, my family and I thank you who asked about our safety during the Southern California fires. We’re out of harm’s way (thank goodness). And thank you to our amazing first responders and fire crews.
Finally, thank you for another fun week on the blog.
