Oh boy. Airlines always say that safety is the most important part of any flight. In case of an emergency we all rely on the highly trained flight attendants to direct us what to do.
Notice what the South Bend Tribune (SBT) is reporting today about United Express flight 4849 (operated by Air Wisconsin) that took place on August 2nd from Chicago to South Bend:
“Our flight attendant appears to be quite drunk,” Aaron Scherb tweeted that morning. ‘She is slurring her speech (she couldn’t make it through the security announcement), couldn’t walk straight/was bumping into everyone in the aisle, and kept dropping things.’ “ – SouthBendTribune.com
Hey @united, our flight attendant appears to be quite drunk on this from from ORD to SBN. She is slurring her speech (she couldn’t make it through the security announcement), couldn’t walk straight/was bumping into everyone in the aisle, and kept dropping things.

According to FlightAware the return flight UA 4821 was canceled and passengers on that flight were put on a bus for ORD. Further, Air Wisconsin told SBT that:
“The flight attendant was detained by authorities after a report of possible impairment. We are investigating the situation and fully cooperating with the local authorities.” – Air Wisconsin
You may wonder if United gave full refunds to all the passengers after allowing this to happen? Nope! A $500 voucher or 25k United miles was the compensation offered for endangering their lives. Beyond that, what about those who had to change to a 2+ hour bus ride vs flying to ORD?
This follows the recent incident where a United pilot attempted to fly drunk from Scotland. It makes you wonder just what is going on with United?
Reports are there is video of the flight and I will update this post if I find it. – René
UPDATE: I will be posting a video soon from a passenger on the flight. Oh, and for the “let’s not judge” folks, according to ABC 7 news the FA has been fired!

Drunk flight attendant doesn’t endanger anyone’s life. $500 is awesome! Get a grip. Air travel is not inherently dangerous.
@Jimbo – Really?
Isn’t it possible she was having a stroke? Let’s not rush to judgment.
As long as she didn’t vomit on anyone!
Because the flight was on a CRJ 200, the Devils Chariot, I say she gets a pass.
I wonder if it was Atomic vodka from The Chernobyl Spirit Company that did her in? That stuff will really get you lit!
Heads up- she doesn’t work for United so the “makes you wonder what’s going on with United” blurb in your blog is ridiculous. Air Wisconsin has their own separate training. They are just contracted out to operate United Express planes.
@MK – In post stated flight run by Air Wisconsin but they are subcontracted by United. Also jets painted with United colors. Thus – what is United thinking – YES!
