a box with a picture of a wireless earbuds

There were some just shockingly sweet Amazon Prime Day offers that were posted here on the blog. One of them was a big discount (compared to the price) for a set of Bluetooth earbuds. I have never had a set but always wanted one to use in my car as well as for short hops.

a coin next to a box

These seemed to be a perfect choice as the reviews were solid and the price, well, was as mentioned crazy low.

a black earbuds in a case

There is a bunch to love about these. First off they really are small and light. The storage unit, while also small, has it’s own built-in battery so when you drop them in they can recharge without a power cord (assuming you charged them in the unit last time, that is).

a black electronic device next to a black case

While I am, now years later, simply still in love, love, love with my NoiseHush over the ear headphones, they are large. They do mess up my hair (I know I know, #FirstWorldProblems). So these tiny buds are a great choice to pop in my pocket along with my Bluetooth transmitter for short Delta hops. They paired quickly and easily to my unit and produce astonishingly good quality sound with deep base for such tiny buds!

a close up of a cord

Inside the box are two tiny bits of instructions as well as replacements for the rubber inside ear parts. I used the middle size already installed and they fit and feel fine. The mini-USB cord will go into the box of other cords I have as I use my own retractable cords for my charging needs.

a screenshot of a phone

Now on to function. As mentioned, when attached to my Bluetooth transmitter, I enjoy excellent sound to both buds. But when I go straight to my LG V20 phone it will pair to both — but I can only use one at a time. Not a slam on the buds but my phone does not seem to allow dual pairing at once, that is, I have to click and choose what bud to use one at a time. But calls are clear and sound is good. Same goes for music.

a computer screen with a screen on

Like my phone, my Windows computer connected quickly and effortlessly to the buds. But, like my phone, it would only allow one at a time use. I do not plan to use them with my computer and this was just a test so that does not really bug me either (it is time to upgrade my old HP, I have to say).

Other things I like and don’t like about these: I like that they do turn off automatically when you put them back into their storage unit but I do not like that it takes a few minutes to turn off. If I want to switch to my NoiseHush headphones, I have to press and hold for about ten seconds on each bud for them to manually power down to release the Bluetooth lock from my Bluetooth transmitter. A minor gripe but wanted to share.

The only thing I really have yet to test is the long term battery life using them. The 2-3 hour intended use should work more than fine and they should recharge between flights in my pocket when I have connections. I look forward to seeing how well it goes.

What do you think? Do you own a set of earbuds? Do you like them? Are you going to give these HayLou GT1s a try as well? – Rene

X2 here. Great first wireless headphones. Very pleased.

Occasionally have to reset/repair after only using 1 for a while. But great.

@CT – Thanks! I agree with you. Overall give them a 95 out of 100 so far. For the price – can’t go wrong (I tend to break things or loose things sometimes).

    Hi Rene,

Any update on the battery life? I’m looking for a new pair of cheap buds, and I prioritize time between charges quite highly.

@Jordan – Only getting about 2-3 hours. I wish it were longer sad to say.
