It is 90ish outside. Not just that but it is so hot when you walk outside it feels like a Swedish sauna. Hot, sticky, yuck kinda summer day. You know what would rock? Yeah ice cream! Chocolate ice cream. Oh, with lots of peanut butter goodness.
Via Uber Eats?
Er wait what? Are you nuts? Maybe… 🙂
Sometimes when you need chocolate, or your +1 says they need chocolate, you just have to do something. I mean it is the kind thing to do, right (ok, it was all about me but just go with it ok?)!
Being that it is just past the 1st of the month my Amex Platinum Card (learn more here) has loaded another $15 of FREEEEE cash into my Uber account. Now the neat thing about Uber is you can use your Uber credits with Uber Eats. I have used Uber Eats a number of times but never for ice cream – in the middle of a hot summer day. Was this a stupid idea?
The only bad thing about Uber Eats is waiting. Now you do get to track your order from start to finish and someone bringing you frozen chocolate goodness is worth tracking – right? But did I get, after waiting for just under an hour for my order, frozen goodness or chocolate soup? Let’s see?
Honestly, I was kinda shocked. The driver brought my order right to my hotel room door and the order was perfect. Cold frozen goodness. Num!
Bottom line, while it may sound ridiculous to order ice cream via Uber Eats on a super hot summer day – at least for me – it was perfect and a great way to burn up this month’s free $15 credits from my Amex Platinum Card (learn more here) plus a few bucks I earned from Uber local offers! Happy summer everyone.- Rene

I’ve been using Lyft more and more since they now have relationships with Delta and Hilton. They give me miles and points for every trip. Double skymiles for every airport run… better than what I get from my Amex Delta Reserve!! But I do still have that $15 every month with the Platinum Amex… and every penny goes to Uber Eats!!
@Pete: Guilty of pretty much the same! Uber Eats has been my room service in some places without a hotel restaurant or when it closes early!
I did this a few years ago when Uber was giving away free ice cream. I ordered and about 30 minutes later it came, still frozen. The ice cream was kept in a Yeti/Coleman type cooler and filled with cold packs, so no it’s not crazy as long as the driver has the right storage.
Please always remember to tip your ubereats delivery person – it’s hard work and often unappreciated !
