Yesterday I blogged about the fact that NCL, due to a “berthing conflict”, changed my cruise arrival port from Barcelona, Spain to Tarragona, Spain. I was offered zip, nada and sqat-diddly in credits or refunds for this change from NCL. In fact, if I had not had my blanket yearly travel insurance, I would have had to pay over $200 to get from the new arrival city to the scheduled one.
This is not the case for passengers who have had their itineraries to Cuba changed prior to sailing on September 2nd due to the Trump administration clamping down on travel to the island.
NCL is offering MEGA credits for the change in stops and simply dumping bookings after September 2nd that were to visit Cuba and offering smaller discounts to the latter.
Due to the fact that Cuba has been a real premium revenue driver for NCL it will have a material impact on the revenues for NCLH this quarter (disclaimer: I currently hold no NCLH stock but have in the past for the shareholder on-board credit perk).
I really have been wanting to visit Cuba. I had planned for a discounted 1st class Skyteam combo mileage run and event but due to the fact that the flights to and from HAV earn no Delta credit I put that one on the back burner. Now my chance to float my way to Cuba is out as well. Burmmer. – René

Holland America offered us a $100 on-board credit. Credit is good for the new itinerary or any new Caribbean cruise. I canceled as $100 doesn’t make a difference to me. But as an airline employee, all my vacation is bid out until May 31, 2020. So now I have to finagle vacation changes that will cost me having a week off at a time. Grrrrr Trump! Bolton and Pompeo are blowing smoke for another war, wherever they can start one.
