Other than on the east coast, that has lots of other airline choices, all the Delta hubs are 44k round trip vs. the normal non-published award charts level 1 are 60k. So the “savings” for you hub flyers is about 16k SkyMiles. But wait.. there is more.
If we look at a spring trip from Atlanta or Detroit for example, the dates for the 44k tickets are not bad. But, if you take Skypennies at 1 cent value and add the tax you are talking $621 cost. How does this compare to a paid ticket?
If we do a quick check of itaMatrix, with some flexibility, we can find tickets for prices around the same amount. But wait what is the cheapest Delta price?
So they are a tiny bit more that the cheapest we can find on any airline but if you do choose these Delta tickets keep in mind you EARN both Skypennies and MQMs for the flights (if elite points matter to you). So by earning Skypennies you reduce the net cost of the ticket even closer to what the award ticket price is.

I rarely even look at these offers Rene. I know they are a poor value. Also, recently recieved a whopping 250 miles (sarcasm) to do a survey on Sky Miles program. Unfortunately for them I was an honest Diamond member and told them the truth, which I know you are well aware of concerning the programs decreasing value, hidden awards charts, decrease in services, etc. I moved a lot of my business to Southwest last year to get easy reward miles redemption and the coveted spouse companion pass.
