Can you believe that 7 years ago today I published my first blog post ever. And since that time I have spent 6 years as a full time blogger and the past year as a weekend only blogger (mostly). Since that first day I have published over 4200 mostly Delta related stories. Simply amazing to me and that the blog has been viewed over 13 MILLION times during the past 7 years. Thank you readers so much for enjoying my work.
But it is now time for another change. I ran a twitter poll a month or so back and asked if readers would rather read the blog during weekdays or on weekends as I have it now. The response was overwhelming towards the weekday schedule. So starting today – weekend blogging will be done (other than SWAG giveaways and maybe some news headlines). I will still only post 3 days a week but move to Monday – Wednesday – Friday blog posts as a regular feature. I will clearly still blog any day that something really big comes up and try to get back to a monthly newsletter on the last day of each month (I missed a few this past year – oooppseee).
Blogging really is a labor of love. There are so many readers who have expressed appreciation for all these years worth of work. What do you think of this change – A good move or? Are you subscribing <-LINK to get a 1x daily (when I post) email? Are you following the blog on twitter? Please let me know! – René

Wow! Seven years? It’s hard to believe it’s been that long! I first started business travel about the same time you started your blog and was searching for tips on how to leverage my Delta flights when I stumbled upon Delta Points. Since then you’ve helped me attain and maintain my Delta status. Thanks for all your help…its been a pleasure getting to know you. Hopefully we can take another trip together soon! Congratulations!
Rene, you have saved me thousands of dollars with all of your little tricks, strategies and inside knowledge of how to best handle many DL situations. Thank you.
I have always found your posts on email, the blog, and twitter to be very helpful. I have accumulated millions of miles and saved thousands of dollars over the last few years because of your information. Your positive outlook on the life of travel is to be complimented. From the early days of absolute loyalty to Delta to the transition of pointing out the hidden changes that in my opinion revealed the greed in Delta Corporate have always been accurate, true, and eye opening.
As I only travel on personal reasons (No expense account to pay for travel) your blogging has allowed me to see much of the world for the lowest cost. Four times to travel RT in the upper deck on the final days of the 747, the final 747 flight to Manilla, travelling in the D1 suite on the inaugural A350 flight, and attaining Diamond status for the 7 years that your blog has been my guide.
Renespoints.com has also allowed me to visit many destinations and meet many fellow AV enthusiasts some of whom have become very good friends. Great memories of St. Maarten and Maho Beach, Tokyo, dashing through Mexico City and Dominican Republic, Centurion Lounge run, many BBQ encounters, Porsche rides, and the best of all is the many interactions with front line Delta employees schmoozing for upgrades!
Your positive friendly attitude is admirable and I welcome the change to weekday schedule!
Congratulations Rene! Thanks for your helpful insight these past years. I don’t always comment but I’m always reading. Here’s to another 7 glorious, fun, rewarding years.
Wow, time does fly when you are having fun. I know it has been a labor of love or you would not have kept posting so long and helped so many of us understand the bat crazy ever changing Delta rules. I read every post and appreciate the work that you put in every one. You have saved me lots of money and points over the years. I certainly understand the need to back off the number of posts that you do each week.
Thanks so much!
Congrats on 7 lucky years! You do such a great job and have educated me so much over the years. I hope to meet you in person one of these crazy trip adventures!!! Cheers!
Amazing 7 years of information and excellent entertainment. I have learned a ton here and literally saved thousands of dollars. You have been first class all the way and have continually strive for excellence and unbiased reporting. I will be a loyal follower whenever buoy blog. Bravo!
I receive your Delta pots via email. I’ve never signed up for Twitter because I’m a news junkie and if I became an active follower of everyone who interests me I doubt that I’d ever get anything useful done. OMMV.
I appreciate all you have done and all the information you have provided. Also, I think you do a great job with your willingness to be a vocal advocate with Delta for the many frequent fliers that are loyal Delta flyers but who do not have corporate travel accounts and look to fly well but save money. I agree with Glen about Twitter, keep the blog posts and emails coming.
I’ve been going all over the world and living abroad a few times since birth, but I got into the points and miles hobby in 2013; Delta Points was one of the first blogs I subscribed to. Congratulations on seven years of blogging success, and thank you for all of the great information and knowledge you’ve shared. Looking forward to many more years of being a faithful reader.
