Every year Managing Director of SkyMiles, Karen Zachary sends out surveys to select members to see what they think about the SkyMiles and Medallion program. Most of the years, as you can see in the past, the questions are similar. Some specific surveys this year have asked just crazy questions. Take a look at this year’s and see what you think. Afterwards I will have some comments to share.
Most of these really are not that exciting – but I bet the results are. I am sure most Medallions are upset at the dramatic drop in upgrade success this year as well as the mega prices in SkyMiles awards cost (as well as not publishing the award charts).

250 miles is a paltry number. Several times pre-merger, NW gave me an upgrade certificate for completing a survey.
250? Not worth opening the survey. Also, clearly it has no impact as all service levels are dropping like your chances for an upgrade. Dropped the credit card and moved half my flights to Southwest. They are really descending quickly on service levels to flyers. Hidden awards charts says it all to flyers. If you did not post the questions I would have never seen them.

As a Diamond flying from ATL I am highly disappointed in the HUGE escalation in award miles needed to fly. It’s overpriced …125,000 miles or more round trip to the west coast , Europe is even worse. After this year I’ll be dropping my 5 Delta AMEX cards and simply put my $500K spend with Chase to earn ultimate rewards points for way more value, and I’ll save all of the annual AMEX fees.
You and your boss “Ham sandwich” have done a great job destroying Skymiles and making me turn away from your company.

I received and took the survey. (250 miles to answer some simple questions while in a waiting room — hey, why not?) I expressed my displeasure about dwindling upgrades — especially with RU certs, which have been fairly worthless for me.
I took the survey. I referenced the lack of award charts, cost of award tickets, problems with the website requiring enormous numbers of miles (double charging in some cases) and problems with honesty about program changes. To give them a piece of my mind, I’d do the survey for free.

Lots of questions, from which survey results will not be acted upon. Quite unfortunate.
I’d bet these results are used to make jokes during the SkyMiles team meetings. Something like this:
“Haha! Hey BAS/E, look at this reply! Can you believe these people think we care?”
