First off let’s get the what now is obvious out of the way. While this is a Delta / KLM / Skyteam partner lounge – it really isn’t. We learned years ago that as of 1MAY14 access to most 3rd party lounges such as these went away for Delta flyers unless you are booked in Delta One business class. Sky Club member? Nope! Delta Diamond? Nope! You get the picture and things will get even worse for “real” Skyteam lounges starting 1JAN19.

Thankfully this is also a Priority Pass lounge and most of us who travel nowadays have a Priority Pass card free as a perk of cards like the non-Delta Amex Platinum personal or business card. Do notice you are time restricted (currently 3 hours) for how long you can visit. If you are staying longer there is another Priority Pass Skyview lounge just a few steps away you can visit on the international secure side of the airport.

There are many lounges worldwide that can be considered as “destination” lounges. That is, they are so fun that you make the time to spend time in them as part of your journey. The Delta lounge in NRT with the super neat beer machine is really special as just one example (review is here). This lounge is not one of those types of lounges.

This is a small, but clean, lounge to give you some refreshments before you fly. Having said that they do pack a lot into this small space. Take a look.

We visited the lounge early in the morning. Wifi speed was respectable and the staff were welcoming.

a bathroom with a shower and a door

Impressively there is a shower available at no extra charge. There are any number of small lounges that do not offer this. On to the breakfast food choices.

I did not sample all of the choices and the ones I did were mostly just to see what they were like.

Drink choices are meager and a bit disappointing (to put it kindly) and self service.

Around the corner from the food service area you have a cooler with additional beverages as well as the coffee machine.

Overall the lounge is what you see in the photos. If you have a longer layover in MNL I would suggest staying on the public side of the airport and trying out the Wings lounge and only use this Delta partner lounge if you really need to before your flight. – René

    Nice review!

I go to Manila 4-6 times per year. I believe I’ve checked out all of the lounges at MNL at some point during my travels. In my opinion, the best lounge at MNL is the Cathay Pacific lounge. It’s head and shoulders above anything else at Manila. It has a full service bar, and an eating area with chefs that freshly prepare food off their menu. Choices are typical Chinese offerings like noodle soup, dim-sum, etc. The seating is spacious, modern and comfortable. Plenty of places to re-charge your devices. The restrooms are also modern, clean and private. I don’t remember if there’s a shower in the lounge or not. In my experience, this is one of the few lounges at MNL that doesn’t feel perpetually overcrowded. The seating area is quite large, and the seats are not stacked together like the other lounges at MNL so even if the lounge is full, it doesn’t feel cramped. To give you good idea of the space, there’s several chairs in the lounge that can spin 360°.

Unfortunately, you cannot get in with Priority Pass, but I’m pretty sure they allow access to Oneworld elites. I’m flying CX business class out of MNL next month so I’m definitely looking forward to experiencing this lounge again.

Isn’t this the old Northwest lounge?
