Time for a bunch of tiny updates. First off, when I reviewed the new Delta LAX T2 Sky Club last month the showers were not yet open.
I was told by the staff that the previous tenants, Air Canada I believe, left the plumbing a total disaster (their words not mine).
Eventually Delta will have 6 showers (vs. the 4 in the old LAX club) so the total number will be an upgrade and should help wait times to use one.
As to the size of the showers maybe not so much but it is good to see all the bits you expect to see are there unlike some clubs that do not have a toilet in the shower room. With currently only 1 open expect wait times for a shower to be VERY long.
I know a lot of readers have dumped UBER and now use LYFT exclusively. UBER has done some stupid things as of late but for worldwide reach I personally still need to use UBER. One thing I have hated is the tracking me up to 5 minutes after a ride unless I turn off my location service in my phone. Well according to Reuters that will soon end. I have not seen an App update with this but I expect it in the next round.
In my last round of cards I picked up the Hyatt card because I wanted 40k points vs. the old offer of 2 nights plus this card is not under the horrid 5/24 rule. I am now a hotel free agent and do not care about the new “Waterist” elite levels at the hotel chain. But per Gary with a View from the Wing card holders like me can now get top status-ish if we register and spend 20 nights by year end. I say “ish” as it still takes 60 to get all the perks. No thanks Hyatt – this offer will not get me back into your hotels for my paid stays.
Lastly, did you know you can get a Delta Pizza or Burger from the flight fuel (a.k.a. old “eats”) menu on flights to Hawaii? Who knew? I know United has been bragging up their Uno pizza on-board. Has anyone tested the Delta one? Let me know if you have and how you liked it (or did not)! – René

Rene: Uber will track you forever if you don’t turn the privacy option off. Even if you close the app it will track you. That made me turn the privacy off and never use the app again. To be honest, I did not miss it.
As for Hyatt, I wrote when they made their stupid new program that it would come back to bite them. Well, they probably just fired the intern that came from Delta and thought them how to destroy a loyalty program. I already moved all my Hyatt nights to SPG. 30 nights so far this year and could not be happier. Too late Hyatt!!!!
@Santastico – Wrong Jeff. Old Delta Jeff is now in insurance out west some where after destroying SkyMiles. Hyatt Jeff is still in the Chicago area I think. It is kinda funny the destroyers of two great programs were both named Jeff however. 😉
@rene: LOL!! I know about the Jeffs but I am sure Hyatt had hired some Delta interns to give them some insights on how to make the damage more impactful. Even if Hyatt gives me Globalwhateverist status I will still stick with SPG. Well, until Marriott hires their own Jeff. 🙁
I wouldn’t be caught dead eating a warmed-over airline burger. I don’t care how “good” United’s supposedly is.
Pizza might work, especially if it’s deep dish. I’ve done the mail-order frozen Lou Malnati’s pies before, and they’re pretty close to the real thing when they come out of my home oven.
It seems i always end up at T3 yuck when will they ever make it liveable??? It needs alot -not sure why they moved without making T3 better too!!!!
Just in T3 last week, and when I say just in I mean it was so crowded I barely made it in :-). Will go to T2 and check out next time.
It’s really fascinating how Hyatt just finished talking about how great their new loyalty program was doing and how membership was up and all sorts of “fake” statistics to positively spin how things are better than they really are. I am curious to see if this makes them change the program or if they’ll just ask people to do these annual mattress runs to pump up their elite membership numbers.
