I love these. Delta has been sending them out for years now. They often include 250 SkyMiles as an incentive to take the time answer them. A reader, who we will call “Bob“, was kind enough to recently send me screen shots of the latest one going out this month. Let’s take a look and then after I will share some thoughts. Most of these are reasonably standard and have not varied too much over the years. But a few things did stand out to me and were better than others.
First off, I was intrigued that they broke out if your status was recognized between Delta One and Delta First Class. Both being a business class cabin and experience, why should one crew or the other be more or less responsive to the company call to thank you for being an elite whatever?
I am not shocked over the question about C+ upgrades. Unlike Alaska that has the simple IT in place that they will not “upgrade” you to a middle seat Delta leaves it up to us to understand the opt-in / opt-out / later/now / select / un-select / change seats options (clearly, that is very clear and simple to follow, right)? Sigh…
The real doozy that hit me was the question about handwritten note cards. I love these but did not know that possibly doing these, by hand, was a directive from the mothership. Interesting.

In its survey, by ignoring potential changes to the Diamond Medallion-American Express spend waiver, Delta chose to ignore the elephant in the living room.
The Medallion program together with Delta-American Express co-branded credit cards offers the best benefits in the industry. The spend waiver is the glue that holds it together.
Delta’s hard-working, dedicated front-liners set the standard of excellence by which all other airlines are judged. I cringe every time they thank me for having the good sense to choose Delta. I’d be crazy not to.
I don’t need thanks from Delta front-liners. I need the spend waiver so I can continue to enjoy the benefits of being a Diamond Medallion.
i gave a scathing review, im fedup. i nailed them on hidden award charts, horrid food on my last trips to asia, and boy did they get an earful about the change to spening on the delta amx card!! i was on a roll thankyou Renee for helping is be aware of so many issues with Delta, i have a love hate relationship with them
@Steve – We all do. We love the Delta people, mostly on-time flights, consistency but the errors and the SkyMiles lies are hard to take
Rene, it is always interesting the questions that are asked in these surveys. I often wonder if the personnel that put them together are even SkyMile participants and whether they truly understand the Program. My guess is no.
After being a participant from almost the very beginning of the Delta Frequent Flyer Program which was outstanding for many years and achieving Million Miler status back in the early 90’s, it has been very disheartening to see the Program deteriorate over the years to what it is today.
