Love the funky Virgin vibe!

In my review of the LAX Delta Sky Club I said it was one of the bright spots of the “new” Delta enhanced “experience” in Los Angeles. The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse right across from the Sky Club is also just as much of an oasis. In fact, when I asked a Delta rep about entrance even as a full Executive Sky Club member I was told: “Nope, you are all ours“. I guess I did appreciate the sentiment. 😉

These folks make me want to fly Virgin! 🙂

The club is also nowhere near the size of the Delta Sky Club so I get the need to only allow those flying on Virgin to use the club and to be greeted by the very friendly and gregarious staff that was kind enough to allow me in for just a few minutes to take some photos and chat with them about the club. I loved the vibe and the funky casual chairs. Virgin really has a feel like no other airline.

So many nice choices!

Unlike most Sky Clubs everything you see is included once you enter the club (fyi, for now, there are no up-charges in the two LAX Sky Clubs until a new Luxury Bar is created).

The club room is broken down into two sections. One for lounging (and nice runway views for us AVgeeks) and the other with dining tables should you wish to grab a bite. I like the preset table arrangements – very nice touch Virgin.

While I did not sample the appetizers, dinners and desserts courses they do look quite nice. I look forward to trying them one day before an Upper Class flight (GM+ get access on direct flights see Delta.com for current rules).

Overall, while a small Virgin club that does fill up before flights (I was told), it is a nice place to go to get away from the crowds below you in the T2 concourse. I have flown Virgin a number of times over the years and I am always impressed with their outstanding customer service and even on this brief visit they were warm and kind to me answering any question I had (I was trying to rush out but the staff seemed to want me to stay longer).

Have you had a chance to visit this unique club in LAX before a flight? Was the food as good as it looked on the menu? Was your service as good as we have come to expect from Virgin? Let me know in the comments below. – René

Good write up. I’m never disappointed by the food offered in VS Clubhouses. Boston is the highlight, with it’s incredibly well stocked local beer fridge and great food. I do think, sometimes, that’s it’s unfair to compare Delta and VS lounges: they are two separate beasts. And given how easy it is to get status / entry into a delta lounge, I can understand why the experience isn’t on the same level. Kinda hindered by their own success, I guess

The food and the service are both exceptional. I love this lounge. You really get the sense that everyone who works there is enjoying themselves and committed to serving their customers. The manager is visible and engaged and I’m sure this is why her team are so motivated and focussed. Don’t miss an opportunity to visit this lounge if you’re flying VS from LAX.

@Shater’s Basson – Agree with all you said. My only issue is the 49% ownership by Delta should allow expanded access (maybe)
@Jame – Thanks for your input. I do look forward to more time in this lounge as a passenger.

I spent about 3 hours there last November before flying to LHR. I was unsure if I would get admission as I was flying premium-economy, despite being a Delta diamond with Sky Club access. Besides bottomless glasses of champagne — real champagne — from an elegantly dressed waiter, I had an excellent salad. They even let me board the flight to LHR last. The front desk called the gate and told them they had someone who wanted to be last. I didn’t think they would allow me to do this since I was flying premium-economy, but they did. Someone gave and told me when to leave and I literally boarded 2 minutes before the aircraft doors were closed. I was probably half-drunk at this point from the bottomless champagne, which meant I slept well even in premium-economy. Upon arrival in LHR, I availed myself of the excellent Virgin Atlantic/Delta arrival lounge, where I had a shower, received a compliment manicure, drank coffee, and ate an excellent breakfast.
