What an insane week! I hope by now you have taken the time to call, email and write via the USPS to Amex & Delta to try to stop what is likely on the way. Joseph DeNardi’s report was a real eye-opener. As a non-business traveling Diamond Medallion and as a Delta shareholder, I can say with assurance that I will sell my shares if Delta rolls out the change as you, René, have reported. If, instead, Delta were to require a higher credit card spend, say $50k instead of $25k for Diamond status then I would still qualify for Diamond status but I would have to do a thorough analysis regarding whether to remain a shareholder. Is there any data on the % of Diamond Medallion passengers that are business vs. leisure??
@Steve – Delta does not break down number that way at all. In the past they have said there are (some number) of SkyMiles members. Then they also said (some percent) are DM, PM etc so we could extrapolate a general number but nothing exacting and nothing business vs. leisure as I am not sure even Delta could say 100% who is who.
